
To begin Windows 2000 dialup setup you will need to follow these steps to connect to Harbornet.net
Please print the instructions for easy follow-along and for future reference.

2000 using Network Dial-up

Double-click on the Network and Dial-up Connections
icon.

Double-click on the Make New Connections icon.
Click on the Next button.
Select 'Dial-up to the Internet' and click 'Next'.
Select 'I want to set up Internet manually' and click 'Next'.
Select 'I connect through a phone line and a modem' and click 'Next'.
Type in the area code and the local access phone number that your computer will dial into the box, then click the 'Advanced' button. This opens up a new window.
**Please
note it is the customer's responsibility to find the correct access number that
is a local call.**
Click
on the 'Connection' tab.
Check the 'PPP (Point to Point Protocol)' radio button in the Connection type
area.
Check the box next to' Disable LCP' Extensions.
Click the 'None' radio button in the Logon procedure area.
Now
click on the 'Addresses' tab.
In the 'IP Address' section, make sure the 'Internet Service Provider
automatically provides one' option is selected.
In the 'DNS Server Address' section, make sure the 'My ISP automatically
provides a Domain Name Server (DNS) address' is selected.
Click the 'OK' button to close the 'Advanced Connection Properties' window.
Click the 'Next' button on the screen shown below.
In the User name field, type in your login name
In the password field, type your password, then click 'Next'.
In the Connection Name field, label this
connection by typing 'Harbornet.net', then click 'Next'.
Check
the 'NO' radio button in the 'Do you want to set up an Internet mail account
now' section, then click 'Next'.
The Wizard is now just about done. If you would like to connect right away, check the box next to 'To connect to the Internet immediately...' If not, leave the box unchecked. Either way, press the 'Finish' button and you are ready to surf the Internet at your convenience.
Once you close this Wizard, we need to create a shortcut on your desktop for a fast and easy connection to the Internet. In your Network and Dialiup Connections folder, right-click on the 'Harbornet' icon we've created and click on 'Create Shortcut'.
Click on 'Yes' to create a shortcut on your desktop.

To connect to the Internet, double-click on the 'Harbornet' icon on your desktop. Click 'Connect' on the screen that pops up and your computer will dial up and connect to the Internet.

You are now connected to the Internet, and can run any software you wish to use, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Eudora, Outlook, etc...
