How to run LiveUpdate
Situation:
You want to know what LiveUpdate does and how to run it.
Solution:
LiveUpdate is the best way to obtain current updates to your Symantec programs
and to make sure that you have current virus definitions, URL updates, firewall
rules, IDS signatures, and ALE updates. There are three stages in the LiveUpdate
process:
1.
LiveUpdate downloads a list of available updates, matches them to the programs
that you have installed, determines if any updates apply to those applications,
and presents you with a list of updates that are available for you to apply.
2. It downloads the updates you select.
3. After :LiveUpdate downloads the update files, it automatically installs them.
NOTES:
· If you downloaded a program update, you may be required to restart the computer for the update to take effect. In this case, after you restart the computer, run LiveUpdate again.
· There is a LiveUpdate icon in the Windows Control Panel. Running LiveUpdate from the Windows Control Panel will only update LiveUpdate. No Symantec products or virus definitions will be updated by this process.

dialog boxes that you see will differ.
